James VanNuys

James VanNuys is a Rapid City musician and visual artist who performs solo and in small groups, working across blues, folk, jazz, and acoustic traditions. His playing leans into fingerstyle and resonator guitar work, shaped by early influences like The Beatles and country blues artists from the 1920s and ’30s. Around the Black Hills, he’s often booked for smaller rooms and events where the music sits just under the conversation, steady and intentional. Alongside his music, VanNuys is also known for his work as a sculptor and painter.
