High Rise
High Rise is a Black Hills–based reggae/rock band that’s been building its sound locally since forming in 2014. Drawing from both traditional and modern reggae, the group blends in elements of ska and hip-hop, shaping what they refer to as “Dakota Roots Reggae.”
Their sets lean into rhythm and groove, built for live rooms and outdoor stages, with a style that balances laid-back reggae structure and a more energetic rock edge. Over time, they’ve become a regular presence around the Black Hills and across parts of the Midwest, playing shows that prioritize feel and flow over strict genre lines.
The band released their first EP, Movin Fast, in 2020, featuring tracks like “Shoot Me Down” and “Wicked Ways.” In 2025, they followed it with Wishful Thinking, continuing to expand their catalog with songs like “True Love” and the title track.
