There is a point every October when the Black Hills calendar starts getting weird. Haunted houses appear in old buildings, bands play costume shows, theaters start programming ghosts and monsters, downtowns fill with trick-or-treaters, and places that normally have absolutely nothing to do with Halloween suddenly acquire fog machines.
