Rapid City Punk Rock Family Reunion

For four decades, Rapid City’s punk scene has carved out its own place in the Black Hills music community. From basement shows and VFW halls to clubs, garages, and DIY venues, generations of musicians, artists, promoters, and fans have helped build a scene that continues to thrive on independence, creativity, and community.

The Rapid City Punk Rock Family Reunion celebrates 40 years of local punk history with three days of live music, reunions, memories, and new connections. Featuring bands from across multiple eras of the Rapid City scene alongside current artists carrying the torch forward, the festival brings together longtime friends, former bandmates, touring musicians, and a new generation of fans.

Hosted at 707 Sports Bar & Nightlife in Baken Park, the reunion includes three nights of performances, special guests, and opportunities to reconnect with the people and stories that helped shape punk rock in Western South Dakota. Additional activities throughout the week include exhibits, gatherings, and projects documenting the history of the scene and the people who built it.

Whether you were there for the early days, found punk later in life, or are discovering it for the first time, the Rapid City Punk Rock Family Reunion is a celebration of the music, friendships, and community that have kept the scene alive for 40 years.
