The Matthews Opera House & Arts Center is a historic performance and exhibition venue in downtown Spearfish, originally built in 1906 and restored as a cultural anchor for the northern Black Hills. The space includes a traditional stage theater and gallery areas that host live music, theater productions, film screenings, art exhibits, and community events throughout the year. Blending preserved architecture with active programming, The Matthews remains one of the region’s key multidisciplinary arts venues, serving both local creatives and touring performers.
