Dopethrone & Year of the Cobra

Black Heart Booking and Metro Concerts Live bring a crushing night of doom and sludge to Aby’s with Dopethrone and Year of the Cobra.

Hailing from Montréal, Dopethrone have built an international reputation on their unrelenting, tar-thick brand of sludge metal. Since forming in 2008, the trio has carved out a sound steeped in distortion, volume, and bleak atmosphere. Their breakout album Dark Foil put them on the global heavy map, leading to appearances at major festivals across Europe and North America. In 2024, they returned with Broke Sabbath, a dense and punishing record that doubles down on their heavier-than-thou ethos.

Joining them is Seattle’s Year of the Cobra, known for their low-end-driven doom and hypnotic, riff-heavy sound. With thunderous bass, soaring vocals, and a stripped-down but massive presence, they bring a different shade of heavy that hits just as hard.

This is an all-ages show for fans of sludge, doom, and uncompromising volume. Earplugs encouraged.
